The "M word"

When I was 9-years-old, my family drove from California to Washington D.C.
The drive took two weeks because we stopped at every museum along the way.
By the end of our trip, anytime my mom mentioned the dreaded "M word" (museum) there was immediate crying and whining.

Now I'm doing the same thing to my kids!  :)

Chicago has so many AWESOME museums and for whatever reason, they're free to Illinois residents most of the winter.

Museum of Science and Industry
B is showing some aunt-ginnie-uncle-flint-lockwood love.  (Ginnie, when we arrived
at the museum he whispered, "do my boots look like spray-on shoes?")

The plane to B's right has this awesome game called glass bottom airplane.
It shows aerial video of major cities and you have to guess the city.
It was a tad nostalgic realizing how many of the cities we had lived in.

B played a game where he manipulated weight, lift, drag & thrust
to turn a brick into a plane.  We were super proud of his reasoning.

 Navy Pier Children's Museum

The museum has an "ice skating rink" (ie slippery floor; skate in socks.)  B&L's favorite part
was falling! They thought it was hilarious and kept re-enacting falls off the "ice."

  1. I freaked out when I saw B in his Flint Lockwood shirt!! It looks SO great!!! Did you guys recently make it?? Did you get the movie too?? That makes me so happy that he liked the movie! It's one of my favorites. I can't wait to get a picture of Nelson in his shirt! Even more excited to see B and Buddy in matching shirts!!

    1. Yes, we made it 2 or 3 weeks ago (freezer paper) inspired 100% by you & Nels. We didn't buy the movie because, he does LOVE the movie and references it constantly, but I also love that he associates it with one-on-one cuddle time with Aunt Ginnie. So it's very special and maybe he'll get to watch it again with his newest little cousins!

  5. Those museums look amazing! What a fun part about exploring big cities. I love the skating video. B looks so handsome in the layered collar look, and She rocks that skirt and headband! I miss those kiddos! I noticed a Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs reference. Jack loves that movie. It's a good one.

    1. Yes, we'd never seen the movie but Nelson & Ginnie introduced us to it. Nelson has dressed up like Flint Lockwood and could TOTALLY pull off the hair and had made a shirt.
      Such a good movie.
